Parenting series

Texas Children’s Health Plan’s Community Outreach team knows children and the communities we serve. We work with schools, community leaders, churches, apartments and daycare facilities in the Houston and surrounding areas. Our goal is to give people the tools to raise healthy children and to keep them safe. Here are some of the things we do:

• Host community back-to-school events.

• Participate in several local health fairs and events.

• Give our communities tools to help them stay healthy and safe.

• Offer free screenings, information and immunizations.

• Teach parenting classes to help parents raise happy and healthy children.

• Publish a newsletter full of health education tips and fact sheets with advice to assist with childhood accidents and illnesses.

• Provide a list of state programs and community resources.
